Medicare Rebates

  • Mental Health Care Plan - You may be eligible to claim a Medicare rebate if you or your child are experiencing mental health difficulties. To be eligible for Medicare rebates, you require a referral from your GP or psychiatrist. To obtain this you will need to make a long appointment with your GP who will assess your current mental health concerns. If eligible, your GP will then complete a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) for you to access psychology appointments.

  • GP Management Plan - You can also attend appointments under as part of a GP Management Plan (GPMP). If you have a chronic medical condition, they may be eligible for services under a GP Management Plan (GPMP). Chronic medical conditions are those that have been, or are likely to be, present for at least 6 months. This program enables clients to receive a Medicare rebate for up to 5 sessions over a calendar year.

  • Helping Children with Autism Program - A referral is needed from a Paediatrician or Psychiatrist to access Medicare rebates. Under the Helping Children with Autism program, a child can be referred by a consultant paediatrician or psychiatrist for the following allied health services for up to four diagnostic/assessment services to assist the referring practitioner with diagnosis or to contribute to a child’s treatment and management plan for a child under 13 years of age and/or up to twenty treatment services for a child under 15 years of age, providing a treatment and management plan is in place before their 13th birthday.
